HISTORY

In 2005, with the sup­port of the Yale Women’s Center’s Amy Ross­bor­ough Fel­low­ship, Sab­rina Manville ’06 and Della Sen­tilles ’06 started Broad Recog­ni­tion as an inde­pen­dent fem­i­nist blog at Yale.

Later Adda Birnir ’07, Mag­gie Doherty ’07, and Basha Rubin ’07 wrote and main­tained the blog, with occa­sional guest contributors.

In 2009, the blog expanded into the new Broad Recog­ni­tion, an online polit­i­cal mag­a­zine devoted to women’s issues jour­nal­ism and fem­i­nist cul­tural com­men­tary. The found­ing edi­to­r­ial board included Presca Ahn ’10 as Editor-in-Chief; Adriel Saporta ’11 as Man­ag­ing Edi­tor; Alice But­trick ’10 as Health Edi­tor; Jes­sica Svend­sen ’09 as Arts Edi­tor; and Sochie Nnae­meka ’09 as Pol­i­tics Editor.
